For decades, faxing has been done directly from the old stand-alone fax machine connected to the traditional telephone company's land line. The cost for sending faxes this old way were high considering the monthly charges for the phone line itself and the per minute rates for long distance calls that the phone company charged.
With the spread of high speed internet services throughout the country and the advent of the internet fax service, no longer do home or business fax users have to struggle with the cost and inconvenience. The convenience of sending a fax via the internet can not even be compared to the old way.
Users can simply send a fax directly from their computer without having to print anything out. If the items to be faxed are in print form then a person can simply scan them on his or her scanner and fax them directly.
