It used to be that in order to fax something, a person needed to either own and expensive fax machine or drive to a store and pay the personnel to send the fax for him or her.
Most places that performed that kind of service were charging a dollar or more for the first page and as much as a dollar for each additional page. That amount is not bad if only one page needs to be sent, but a ten page report would be pricey.
That is why people have been turning to the free alternative lately. Both sending and receiving faxes can now be done absolutely free for at least thirty days.
There are many companies and sites that are offering at least a limited trial of their free online fax service. Signing up for an account takes about two to three minutes and then the new customer is able to send or receive faxes to his or her number that was assigned during the signing up process.
All services generally have the same signing up process. This usually begins by the customer selecting a fax number based on his or her area code and prefix.
After the fax number is selected then the customer will put in all of his or her billing information such as name, address, and phone number. The web site will ask for a credit card number in order to begin the free trial.
